Youth Group Corner – April to June 2026

Hello everyone! 💙

The past few months have been full of new beginnings and exciting opportunities for the Right 2 Smile Youth Group. From welcoming new members and a new youth worker, to community outreach and special events, it has been another busy and rewarding period for our young people and volunteers.

Here’s a look at what we’ve been up to!

💬 Our Weekly Youth Sessions

🌟 Welcoming New Faces

This spring marked an exciting new chapter for our youth group as we welcomed both new members and our new Youth Coordinator, Jessica.

To help everyone get to know each other, Jessica facilitated a fun and interactive session filled with informal games and activities. It was a great opportunity for the group to connect, break the ice, and start building new friendships in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

We are excited to have Jessica on board and look forward to the journey ahead together!

💛 Thank You Aġenzija Żgħażagħ

We would also like to thank Aġenzija Żgħażagħ for supporting us through the BOOST Scheme.

The resources provided through this scheme are helping us enhance our weekly youth sessions while also creating more engaging experiences during our outreach activities and community events. We are very grateful for this support and the positive impact it is having on our young people.

🧠 Relationships, Consent & Personal Growth

As part of our ongoing group supervision programme, psychotherapist Kyle facilitated more meaningful sessions focused on relationships, consent, and personal growth.

The discussion encouraged young people to reflect on healthy relationships, boundaries, communication, and respect. During another session, we explored our past experiences, current priorities, achievements, and future aspirations. It was a valuable opportunity for young people to pause, reflect, and think about the journeys they are on and the goals they would like to achieve.

☀️ Taking Our Sessions Outdoors

With the beautiful weather arriving, we made the most of the sunshine by moving some of our sessions outdoors to the Chinese Garden of Serenity.

Different sessions focused on team-building activities designed to strengthen communication, collaboration, and trust. Being outdoors provided the perfect setting for young people to connect while enjoying nature, some healthy competition and get creative together!

🏗️ The Marshmallow Challenge

One of our most entertaining sessions involved a team-building challenge using only marshmallows and spaghetti.

Working in teams, participants had to build the tallest and strongest structure possible. While there was plenty of laughter and creativity involved, the activity also highlighted important skills such as communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and perseverance.

🎲 Informal Games and Building Connections

Our Activities Coordinator, Julia, facilitated a relaxed session centred around board games and informal activities. These sessions may seem simple, but they play an important role in building relationships, strengthening teamwork, and creating opportunities for young people to connect in a supportive environment.

📣 Outreach, Events & Community Engagement

📰 Featured by MCAST

We were honoured to be featured in Community Voices within MCAST‘s CSR Newsletter.

In the feature, our Outreach Coordinator, Jenson, shared insights into the work of the Right 2 Smile Youth Group, highlighting the importance of creating safe and supportive spaces for young people, encouraging participation, and fostering meaningful community connections.

We are proud to see the work of our young people recognised and shared with a wider audience.

🌳 Right 2 Smile Youth Group Open Day 2026

One of the highlights of this period was undoubtedly our second annual Open Day, held at the beautiful Chinese Garden of Serenity in Santa Luċija.

The event brought together families, young people, organisations, artisans, volunteers, and community members for a morning filled with creativity, learning, games, workshops, information stands, and meaningful conversations.

It was wonderful to meet so many new people, reconnect with familiar faces, and showcase the work being carried out by our youth group.

A huge thank you goes to all our collaborating stallholders, supporting organisations, volunteers, sponsors, the Santa Luċija Local Council, and everyone who attended and contributed to making the event such a success.

🎉 Celebrating 15 Years of Aġenzija Żgħażagħ

Jessica and Jenson had the privilege of attending the 15th anniversary celebrations of Aġenzija Żgħażagħ.

The event recognised the important contribution that the national youth agency continues to make in supporting young people and youth organisations across Malta. We are grateful for their ongoing support and proud to be part of this wider youth sector community.

🌍 Re-Designing Inclusive Practice Conference

We were also honoured to participate in the Re-Designing Inclusive Practice Conference organised by Aġenzija Żgħażagħ.

Representing Right to Smile, Ruth Mifsud contributed to a panel discussion focused on the importance of inclusive practices for young people. Our mentor Alida also participated throughout the conference and contributed to these important conversations.

⛪ Outreach at the Parish Church of Santa Luċija

We were delighted to collaborate with Angelic Voices during their fundraising event at the Parish Church of Santa Luċija. The outreach activity gave us the opportunity to meet families, young people, and community members through informal games, conversations, and information about the youth group.

We would like to thank the Parish Church of Santa Luċija and the Santa Luċija Local Council for their support and collaboration throughout this initiative.
